If you live an active lifestyle, and are hard on your gear, the company’s newest model, the Rugged L150XR, just might be the offroad and offgrid portable power supply for you. Weighing in at just 13 oz, and measuring just 5.5″ x 3.27″ x 1″, this little device packs a lot of juice for a small package, 15,000 mAh to be precise. That’s enough of a capacity to recharge an iPhone 10 times on a single charge, or to power a GoPro camera over twelve times over, and can even fully charge tablets like the iPad or Kindle Fire.
But what makes it even better is the fact that this external battery is fully sealed against water and dust (IP66 certified for those in the know), and can survive almost anything you throw at it. The crew at Limefuel says they’ve put them to the test, with great results:
“These batteries have been beaten with a hammer, dropped from our second story office, thrown against brick walls – we have even driven over the Rugged with a car! Multiple times. After each of these tests, the battery showed some battle scars but we were still able to charge all of our devices and charge the battery itself with no issues. We also put the Rugged through more likely tests like dropping it into the snow, in streams and down some rocky trails while hiking.” – Limefuel
The Limefuel Rugged L150XR also offers simultaneous charging of devices, as well as “pass-through” charging (charging a connected device at the same time it is charging itself), which can speed up the powering of mobile devices in the field.
This powerful and rugged backup battery is currently available as a pre-order on the company’s Kickstarter campaign page, with backers at the $70 and up levels being the first to get their hands on one. Limefuel is also offering models with lower capacities (13,000 mAh or 10,400 mAh) at a lower cost, and all models will have the same durable construction.
