Energy Efficient Displays

If you’re the type of person who regularly works on computer-intensive applications, such as programming, graphic design, or musical composition you know that one monitor simply isn’t enough.

Two, sometimes three extra screens are necessary to accomplish your work. But you don’t want to run up the electric bill in the process.

Here are several energy efficient monitors that also won’t break the bank.

Apple Thunderbolt Display – This is the most expensive screen on the list, but it’s also one of the only ones compatible with Apple computers, such as the Macbook Air and Macbook Pro. It has an ambient light sensor, which detects your surroundings and minimizes its energy usage while still allowing you to get your work done.

Dell Ultrasharp 24” LED LCD Monitor – From computer manufacturer Dell comes an arsenic-free and mercury-free flat panel monitor. It’s large size allows you to add an extra screen to your desktop. It was designed with eco-friendly usage in mind, which means it also has energy-saving settings and power-usage limiters.

Viewsonic 24” Ultrathin Widescreen LCD Monitor – With 40% less power-usage than competing LCD monitors, this super thin display from Viewsonic is perfect for watching movies and playing games on its 30,000,000: 1 Mega Dynamic contrast ratio screen.

Viewsonic 22” Widescreen Full 1080p HD with Stereo Speakers – If you’d like to save money and skip purchasing a set of external speakers, check out the Viewsonic 22” display. Slightly smaller than its larger cousin, but compared to other 22” displays, this one takes the cake. It’s also 40% more energy efficient than other 22” competitors.

Samsung 32” LED Monitor With Built-In Speakers – While Viewsonic is definitely leading the charge towards the eco-friendly display market, Samsung enters their 32” alternative to the mix. Like the Viewsonic models, it also has energy-saving features and options to lower the power bill each month. It’s also the biggest screen on the list, so if you’re looking for a tv-sized option, the Samsung display is your best bet.
