Bicycled Project Creates Recycled Bikes from Old Cars

Bicycled bikes from old cars

Cars are incredibly useful to our modern lives, but they also happen to be polluting resource hogs with limited life spans, and in our quest for a greener world, it would be great if they could be repurposed as a cleaner mode of transportation.

At the end of its life, an automobile can be parted out, crushed and recycled, or used as lawn art (hey, it happens).

But a better way to use some of them might be to turn them into bicycles, as the Bicycled project aims to do.

The brainchild of a Spanish creative firm, LOLA Madrid, the Bicycled concept might seem a bit far-fetched (after all, there’s quite a bit of unusable materials in old cars, and new vehicles tend to be built with a lot of plastic instead of steel components), but if it does gain traction, it would be quite a poetic end for a fossil-fueled vehicle to be transformed into a truly green mode of transportation.

Not only would these bikes be a great symbol for creative reuse, they would also allow for the ultimate in customization:

“Because every Bicycled is made out of real car parts, there won’t be two of a kind. That’s the key to a product designed to use as much car waste as it can.”
