This DIY Pallet Design Will Move You

This DIY Pallet Design Will Move You

Wooden pallet designs are all over the place, but this one from artist Tomáš Moravec is totally original – and dangerously inventive. By taking a wooden pallet and placing wheels on each corner, Moravec figured out that it would fit right on the rails of the Bratislava, Slovakia trolley system. The tracks in the region are sized differently than the ones in the U.S and Europe, and Moravec noticed that the narrower tracks perfectly nest the wheels from the pallet. Conveniently, this allows the artist to travel through the city in quite an unusual way (click on the image below to watch the… read more

The future of flight

MIT's future of flight

MIT’s AI Lab is a busy hub of practical inventions and idealistic passions. Recently, they showed off a new system of personal aircraft control they’ve created in conjunction with airplane manufacturer Boeing. One of MIT’s Graduate students, Peng Yu, displayed their vision of the future some 20-30 years down the road. Yu and his team developed a variety of ways for commuters with no airplane piloting knowledge to effectively control either a personal aircraft or a flying taxi. Using voice, keyboard input, tablet, and motion gestures, Yu showed how easily an average person could operate a remote-controlled airplane. Tablet –… read more

Windshield Wipers May Get A Future Upgrade

Windshield Wipers May Get A Future Upgrade

Invented in 1903 by Mary Anderson, the windshield wiper is certainly an important invention in the world of transportation. The automotive company McLaren, known for their select and high-tech sports cars, are said to be reworking the way standard windshield wipers will operate. The design will use sound wave technology from high frequency ultrasound waves. The sound waves would make small vibrations on the windshield that would deflect rain, repel dirt and even bugs. This would improve visibility and keep the windshield clear and cleaner over time. Using this type of system would mean that there would be no need… read more
