eBay Giving Works to Charity

In a consumer society what and how you buy products reflects your personality and your values.

Whether you wear your friend’s old clothes or get creative making old tees into scarves, you are creating a second life instead of throwing them into a landfill and creating waste.

Now there is a way to combine the desire to purchase and the desire to help someone else in the same transaction. If you have ever browsed eBay you may have noticed that some listings are a part of eBay Giving Works.

eBay Giving Works is monitored by Mission Fish and allows 10-100% of an auction to go to a charity. As a buyer, you can also search for listings that give specifically to charity. If you already have a specific charity in mind and they are registered, you may make a donation to that charity even without making a purchase.

Next time you are browsing eBay as a buyer trying to find that toy you had as a child or getting a used textbook for class, you can donate with your purchase. Or, the next time you are listing those old clothes and accessories that just don’t work in your wardrobe anymore; you can go one step farther in giving back and greening up by donating a portion of your sale to charity.

Sellers can commit to donate a percentage of their listing’s final sale price to the nonprofit of their choice. To find sellers using eBay Giving Works, use the Advanced Search Option at the top of every eBay page. The blue-and-yellow ribbon identifies listings that support nonprofits through eBay Giving Works. Shoppers also can donate to a worthy nonprofit at eBay checkout.

Additionally, eBay Giving Works gives nonprofits the tools to reach a new audience, strengthen ties with their existing donor base, and tap into a new source of unrestricted funding.  Share your passion and fund with a charity or organization that you would like to support.
