Natural Remedies

We all use medicine for one thing or another, but there are other alternatives that offer a safe, more natural way of aid. These natural remedies will do an equal job, if not better. Give these five remedies a try and see which ones are right for you.

1) Colds – When the first signs of sniffles start, take oil leaf extract. The symptoms will be much less severe and will not last as long. Not many people are aware of this natural product as it is not manufactured by large companies. It is sold mainly in health food shops and green stores.

2) Cold Sores – Ever tried using an ice cube?. No one knows exactly how ice fights cold sores, but experts know that viruses can’t thrive in cold environments. Ice will freeze the virus and prevent the blister from forming. The minute you feel a cold sore coming on (tingling or pricking feeling), wrap an ice cube in a cloth or paper towel and hold it directly on the spot for 5 minutes in 10-15 second intervals.

3) Insect repellent – By taking a daily B-complex vitamin you can reduce the amount of insects near you.  Mosquitoes find it distasteful. Other essential oils known for repelling insects are citronella, lemongrass, lavender, peppermint, eucalyptus, thyme, geranium, spearmint and rosemary. Dilute the oil in water or other oils like almond or olive and lightly apply.

4) Warts – Get a small cotton ball and soak it in aloe vera until the cotton ball is completely soaked. Then apply the cotton ball directly onto the affected area and make sure it doesn’t come off.  After every few hours, soak the cotton ball again with the aloe vera. Change the cotton ball every day and after one week the wart will be gone.

5) Dandruff – A mixture of water & vinegar (half and half) works better for most people than purchased dandruff products and is cheaper. Vinegar protects your hair from yeast which makes dandruff stay away.
