Exhibited in 2006, the windows of the palace were completely covered in a translucent film that diffused light and created natural rainbow prisms. These were reflected from a mirror covered flooring that stretched throughout the space.

In addition to the visual splendor, the artist also included background noise to provide a dimensional ambiance. The sound of her varied breathing patterns from her performance on a 2004 soundtrack called The Weaving Factory played through the expanse.

The exhibit was designed by the artist specifically for the space, and the architecture of the building seemed to bounce off of the mirrors and come to life. Kimsooja’s vision was to allow viewers to go through and experience the display, and along with their own breath, to permit the focus to take an introspective turn.

Another colorful display can be seen in a room from the 21c Museum Hotel. Nestled in a historic portion of downtown Louisville, Kentucky it was created by artists Jonah Freeman and Justin Lowe.

The vivid presentation is a perfect fit in the hotel museum which features contemporary artworks.

Actually a sculpture exhibit, it is currently displayed in one of the rooms. Titled Asleep in the Cyclone, it is a compilation and spin of the artists’ previous collections. The room’s geodesic design is reminiscent of the architect, Buckminster Fuller.

It is made from repurposed materials like wood from old barns, textiles and other works of art. Also in the room are multiuse pieces, like furniture and antique selections. Everything down to the linens was carefully selected and most items in the room were custom artist designs or vintage additions.

Also in the space is a functioning record player and music selections that guests can listen to, heightening the experience of a stay in the suite.

An interview with the artists is provided by the 21c Museum Hotel:

These eye-catching displays celebrate the splendor of nature’s color intensity, and the inclusion of sound is a unique way to add to the experience.
