Sometimes, more often than not, adults need a reminder that the daily grind doesn’t have to completely take over and squalor the fun.
The following unusual pieces would remind anyone in the room to pause and enjoy a few moments of unexpected entertainment.
An indoor see-saw – you could philosophically say that it is made for inviting a conversation about balance or something, but that would not really mask the fact that it is really just pure fun.
That could be said of the Twin Bench. According to the designer, it emits fairness between those seated. It really is just a neat way to sit, as it can be turned into a see-saw by flipping the board inserts.
The SeesawSeat says it is for the outdoors, but its sleek, entertaining design could easily make it a favorite indoor piece.
This See-Saw Table requires balance and coordinated eating.
The Eat & Play Table requires synchronized swinging. Nice dishes not recommended.
The Double Rocker from Brian Lee Studio creatively uses the concept of a mattress and seating to form a floor bound swing.
While seated facing each other, it supports the curvature of the spine with the back rests. The middle ground table turns it into a social spot that rocks.
Feeling the fun? These plans from Ana White show how to make a do it yourself see-saw design for under $20 U.S. This one is intended as children’s furniture, but that can be resolved by gauging the dimensions for a larger sized unit and cutting the lumber to fit.
These plans can also be modified for a big kid (a.k.a. adult) design. Though probably intended for outside use, it couldn’t hurt to bring it indoors during rainy or cold weather.
Furniture can have a fun side that might bring out the one adults can sometimes forget about.
