A love for cardboard boxes usually starts early, and sometimes it never goes away.
One family has found a creative way to use up their excess cardboard, and it just might be genius.
Leon and Lilly Mackie found themselves covered up with cardboard boxes after an international move and an addition of a new member to the household. After the seemingly endless supply of boxes began to empty, the couple had an idea for reusing them that became their weekend entertainment.
And the Cardboard Box Office was soon up and running.
Turning the ordinary boxes into handmade versions of scenes from popular big screen features, they also incorporate everyday items from around the house into the pictures. With on-hand, repurposed supplies and tons of boxes, they are able to make props, costumes and entire movie sets.
Taking it a step further than just recreating the sets, they both must also have an inner actor trying to come out as they, too, are part of the picture. The star of the show, their son Orson, is apparently also a natural talent. And naturally adorable.
Not only is it amazing that the Mackie’s have come up with such an imaginative and fun way to repurpose cardboard boxes, but it is also pretty impressive that they both have the energy to produce such a feat in the midst of exhausting unpacking and with a little one in tow. The finished creations are hilarious, and the amount of work that goes into coming up with the concepts and making the displays looks like it is no small effort.
This project is definitely an impressive original, and the family is going to have some great pictures and memories to look back on. And thanks to sharing their imagination and clever recycling ideas, we get to be amused and entertained by their captivating filmography images. Fabulous.
