This Vest Can Sense Your Mood While Reading

This Vest Can Sense Your Mood While Reading

Reading enthusiasts can be drawn into books and become engrossed with their characters. However, this curious design from a team of students from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology takes this idea and puts it into action. The project, called Sensory Fiction, is designed to take the reader through the emotional experiences of becoming completely engaged in a novel. Felix Heibeck, Alexis Hope and Julie Legault are the creators of the conceptual design. The slightly uncomfortable looking harness is a fully functioning prototype developed for a course project at the university called Science Fiction to Science Fabrication. The reader wears the vest… read more

Image

It seems like life resembles science fiction more and more each day. Films like Star Trek, Star Wars, Blade Runner, and others have no doubt influenced the technology we use in the house today (See: Anything that has to do with 3-D printing). However, bringing these gadgets to life is arguably more exciting than watching them on-screen. A company has recently developed a scanner that connects to your smartphone and allows you to see what’s inside your food. It calculates calories, fats, gluten, etc. On top of that, this video will give you an idea of where kitchen technology is… read more

Apple Celebrates 30 Years Of Innovation

Image

Thirty years ago, Apple introduced the first commercial computing device that didn’t weigh 50 tons. It was revolutionary, and without those first inventions, we wouldn’t have the scope of technological gadgetry we have today. Apple’s innovations have helped researchers create smaller and smarter chips that power the technology found in electronic cars, solar power plants, the smartphone you’re probably reading this on, and much more. Along with Apple’s attention to creativity and detail, they’ve been able to bring us the most eco-friendly computers money can buy. They’ve also begun the mass exodus from wasteful CD’s and DVD’s to cloud entertainment… read more

What It’s Like Using A Treadmill Desk

Image

In recent years, the active lifestyle trend has taken America by storm, and though we’re still posting record numbers as the world’s fattest country (Go USA!), we’re doing our best. One of the trends you may have seen rise and fall is that of the treadmill desk. It basically works exactly as it sounds — a desk where you walk on a treadmill to exercise while attempting to work. The folks at Business Insider decided to give the concept a spin, and here’s how it worked out for them:

Play It Again

Play It Again

If you had one of these as a kid, then you were able to rock with mobility. If you didn’t have one as a kid, then you may not fully understand what this large piece of equipment is, or the profound effect it had on outdoor gatherings, parties or replaying that favorite cassette over and over. That’s a rewind. Here’s a fast forward. After the nostalgia wears off, there is not much place for the large bulky blaster and old radios that some of us used to love. Outdated technology, now playing mostly only memories. That is, until Carl Godfrey of… read more
